Theme: English for fun. Quiz-game “Food and meals”.
Aims:  to repeat active vocabulary and grammar patterns;
            to develop pupils’ team work and cooperation;
            to educate respect to each other.
Equipment: a laptop, a projector, cards with tasks, presents, likes, diplomas, letters of credit, etc.
Procedure:
Teacher: Good afternoon children and guests. Before we start our competition I want to say “hello” in a song way. I want everybody to sing and move with children and me during our quiz.
(Song for greeting “Hello. How are you.”)
Teacher: Ok. Thanks. Let’s divide into two teams. We will do that with a help of sticks. Take one and don’t pip. Divide into teams according to your colour.  So, we have two teams. Please, think up your team name and select the captain. 2-3 minutes for you. And let’s choose the jury, we need three people.
Teacher: So, we have our jury. Ok, teams.  Are you ready? So, we have the team ……… and it’s captain…….  And the team………. and it’s captain………
Task 1. The game “Crosses and nods. ”
Teacher: The team 1 will be crosses and the team 2 will be nods. (Teams get crosses and nods)
At first we have to decide whose turn is it? I want captains to come up and take one pencil. The team whose pencil will be longer starts. If the team makes a mistake your turn will go to your opponent.
Questions:
1.     My color is yellow
And I grow on trees
I’m a popular food
With monkeys
2.     Rabbits like to eat me
When I grow in a field
This orange vegetable
Tastes best when it is peeled
3.     Americano and latte
Cappuccino if you please
Macchiato and espresso
Tell me – what are all of these?

4.     I’m oval, yellow, sour.
You put me in your tea.

5.     This is a type of liquid
But it’s not oil or ink
It’s white and comes from a cow
And it’s something you can drink.

6.     I’m red and have seeds
And I am also round
Sliced up in salads
Is where I can be found.


7.     It comes from Italy,
It can be with ham, mushrooms, corn.
You put there cheese for sure.

8.     You make it or buy it for birthdays,
You put candles there.

9.     This orange colored fruit gets its name from its color.

10.We put it in tea and coffee to make it sweet.

11.It is cold, it can be eaten in summer. Children like it.

12.You buy it when you go to the cinema. It is made of corn.

Teacher: the winner is…….. team, it gets a like…….
Task 2. “Let’s make up a conversation”
Children get cards with phrases. They are to put them in the right order and read the dialogue. The team will get two likes if it is the fastest and everything is correct. The opponents have a chance to get one like if everything is correct.

Task 3. ”Word combinations”
 Children get words. The teams are to combine words into word combinations in the right way. The team  will get a like for each right word combination and one like gets the team who is the fastest. The opponents have a chance to get likes for correct word combinations.
Task 4. “Birthday cake and pizza”
Children get sheets of paper. They are to pick the right ingredients for birthday cake or pizza. Pupils get words, they are to decide which words are the most suitable and stick them on their sheets.  The jury will decide whose recipe is the best. The team gets two likes if it is the fastest and everything is correct. The opponents have a chance to get one like if everything is correct.

Game “Move freeze”

Task 5. “Healthy and unhealthy food”.
Children get envelopes “healthy” and    “unhealthy” and words. They are to divide words  into envelops. The jury will decide whose work is the best and the fastest. The team gets one like if it is the fastest and one like for a correct word. The opponents have a chance to get one like for each correct word.

Task 6. “How much/ How many”
Pupils get sheets of paper with two columns: (team 1) – How much ……. will you need? And How many ….. will you need? (team 2) – How much ……. have you got? And How many …… have you got? Also pupils get words. They are to make up sentences. For each correct question pupils get one like. One like is for team who is the fastest.

Teacher: Now captains come up to our jury and give them all likes you have. The jury will count your likes. And we will play the game “Simon says”.
Game “Simon says”
Teacher: if I say: “Simon says jump”, you will jump. If I say: “Jump”, you won’t move. If a pupil makes mistake, he will be out of the game.

1.     Simon says jump.
2.     Simon says clap your hands.
3.     Stamp your feet.
4.     Jump.
5.     Sit down.
6.     Simon says sit down.
7.     Simon says stand up.
8.     Touch your nose.
9.     Bend your knees.
10. Simon says touch your nose.
11. Hands up.
12. Simon says hands up.
13. Hands down.
14. Simon says hands down.
15. Stand on one leg.
16. Turn around.
17. Simon says turn around.
18. Clap your hands.
19. Jump.
20. Simon says sit down.
Teacher: So, the jury has already counted and we have your results. The team 1 has… likes and the team 2 has ….likes.
So, the 4th d form gets the diploma of participants of foreign languages’ week. Thank you for helping, coming and taking active part in our quiz. Learn languages  and you will open the world!!!!

Teacher: What season is it?
Children: It is winter. (Chant)
Winter comes.
Winter: Somebody was calling me. So, I came. I am winter.
Children and teacher: Hello, winter. We are glad to see you!
Teacher: Dear, winter. Take a sit and stay at our lesson.
Winter sits down.
Teacher: What month is it now?
Children: It is December.
Teacher: Name three winter month.
Children: December, January, February. (Chant)
December, January, February come.
DJF: Somebody was calling us. So, we came. We are winter month.
December: I am the first winter month. I bring you first snow. However, I am not very cold. I sometimes even wet.
January: I am the second winter month. I bring you happiness and many holidays. I am cold. I am snowy.
February: I am the third winter month. I am the shortest month of the year. I am frosty with heavy snowfalls.
Winter: They are my sons. We bring you holidays, happiness, good mood, bright memories.
Child 1:
-         It’s true. You always give us gifts. Now it’s our turn.
Winter, December, January and February sit down.

-         We like decorating Christmas tree. (They show)
Child 8&9&10:
-         We like singing carols.

Narrator. A grandfather went through the forest and lost his glove. A mouse saw it.
Mouse. Knock-knock! Who lives in the glove?
Narrator. But nobody was there. Now the mouse lives in the glove. Once a frog saw the glove.
Frog.  Knock-knock! Who lives in the glove?
Mouse. I am a mouse. Who are you?
Frog. I am a frog. May I live with you?
Mouse. Come in. Let’s live together.
Narrator. Now the mouse and the frog live together. A hare saw the glove.
Hare. Knock-knock! Who lives in the glove?
Mouse. I am a mouse.

Narrator. The bear begin to get inside. The glove begin to crack. All animals begin to roar and run away.

Teacher: Listen! Somebody is knocking. Who’s that?

                          I’ve got presents
